Fantastic diving Day!
hello everyone, just another friendly update from the diving that went down today. One of our boats went out to Reggies and Galleria, this morning and this is what they saw: 2 Blotched Fantail Rays, 1 Whitetip Reef Shark, 1 Jenkins Whiptail Ray, 1 Sea Moth, 1 Leaf Fish, 4 Potato Groupers and 1 Sea Apple. Another boat went out to Manta Reef and Galleria, seeing: 1 Reef Manta, 2 Devil Rays, 1 Smalleye Stingray, 2 Green Turtles, 1 Frog Fish, 5 Leaf Fish, 1 Sea Moth, 1 juvenile Ribbon Eel and 6 Potato Groupers. On top of that we also had two shallow dives to Crock Rock and Salon, seeing: 2 Leopard Rays, 1 Green Turtle, 3 Spotted Guitar Sharks, 4 Kuhl Rays, 1 Frog Fish, 4 Crocodile Fish and 2 Leaf Fish. What a beautiful diving day with Diversity Scuba! :)

Another weekly update.
just another update from this past week to let you guys know what we have been seeing. Whale Sharks have been seen on the Ocean Safari's as well as the dive boats that are visiting the sites down south! Diving down South: We have had the occasional Manta and Smalleye Stingray, both Green and Loggerhead Turtles, a couple of Frog Fish, a beautiful new purple Weedy Scorpion Fish, loads of Leaf Fish and a new Dragon Moray! Diving in the North: many Whitetip Reef Sharks have been seen, Leopard Sharks are becoming more common, Devil Rays on almost every dive, the odd Grey Reef Shark, Loggerhead Turtles, Leaf Fish and another Weedy Scorpion Fish! Our Central dive sites: A few Giant Guitar Sharks have made an appearance, Devil Rays are about, the occasional Hammerhead Shark and Whitetip Reef Shark and even the odd Manta Ray! Good news on top of all this is that the visibility has changed to that amazing blue once again! unfortunately the water temperature has seemed to drop on the deeper dives. Otherwise the diving has been amazing! :)

Awesome Visibility is back in Tofo!!!
just a little update on what went down on the dives yesterday. Visibility is back to that beautiful blue water!!! Morning dives were Manta Reef and Galleria, starting with Manta Reef. Dropping down we came across a large Loggerhead Turtle, 5 Leaf Fish scattered all around the reef, 2 Crocodile Fish, a Devil Ray passing over us and to finish the dive a huge Giant Manta Ray playing below us! Onto Galleria for our second dive. The same as the first dive, as in coming across a little Bowmouth Guitar Shark on the drop. Throughout the dive we were also followed by a Devil Ray which at one point 3 others joined up and proceeded to play around above us. Once again to finish off the dive we were visited by another Bowmouth Guitar Shark, however this one was a big one! As we had started to ascend at this point we just watched him swimming around below us, still an amazing creature to watch! Once again amazing dives :)

Sharks are everywhere!
Ok so this morning we had a bit of a rainy start but the diving was none the less fantastic! First this morning was off to Reggies, once again the visibility had cleared up to around 20-25 meters! It was also a bit of a shark day today as we saw 2 Grey Reef Sharks and 6 Whitetip Reef Sharks. A Large Loggerhead Turtle was found sleeping under a ledge as well as 2 Longnose Hawkfish located near the drop point. Now as for the second dive which was out to Galleria, the shark sightings continued! The begining of the dive was a little quiet but at the end we had the Hammerhead Sharks once again! Unfortunately not as much as a few days ago but seeing 8 together was still magical. Lets hope they going to be staying with us for some time! :)

Schooling Hammerhead Sharks on Galleria!
Just a catch up on the diving here at Diversity Scuba. On the 19th we had an incredible Hammerhead Shark dive down at Galleria! Dropping down into the middle of about 30 Hammerhead Sharks has got to be one of the best ways to start a dive! Not only were they seen in the begining of the dive but came back past us another two times, basically saw them throughout the dive! However it was not only the Sharks out there, we encountered a Giant Manta who gave us a quick visit and a big Loggerhead Turtle resting on the bottom. As for the smaller guys, 2 Sea Moths were seen on the bottom. Cant ask for much more than that! :)

Humpback Whales on Scuba again!
Humpback Whales on Scuba this morning! Off we went to Salon this morning and what a dive that was! Started the dive off with a couple of the smaller creatures, 2 Cleaner Pipefish and 2 Samoan Pipefish when all of a sudden 2 Humpback Whales pulled in to say hello. They seemed very relaxed and we got to swim along side them for quite some time as they were just playing around. At least three times one of them went into the "sailing" position which was absolutely mind blowing to watch! After witnessing that awesome encounter we carried on to have a great dive none the less. Kuhl Stingrays were scattered all over the reef, found a Spotted Guitar Shark, one Crocodile Fish, big variety of Nudibranch's and a school of Giant Reef Squid at the end. Also after the Humpback encounter we had a little Remora following one of the divers for the rest of the dive up until we reached the surface. What a fantastic morning! :)

Eagle Ray on Galleria today!
During the course of the day we visited Galleria twice and both of them were amazing! Starting off with the first one this morning. At the moment there is not to much current but just enough to give you that perfect drift dive as well as a slight temperature increase which always helps. We encountered a fairly large potato grouper on the drop point who was extremely curious and actually followed us for about 10mins! A few of the divers got a closer inspection from the potato grouper, coming right up close and seemed to be peering into you eyes, amazing! Then a short visit from a Spotted Eagle Ray as well as a Giant Manta who cruised slowly pasted us! Along the bottom of the reef we managed to find one of the Sea Moths which is always a special find. Now for the second dive. Just off the back wall of the drop we found a resting Loggerhead Turtle who seemed very relaxed to have us there. We also then found the same Sea Moth and just before we arrived at the cave found another Loggerhead Turtle swimming slowly out into the deep, always a beautiful sight. Just before we started to leave the reef we stumbled across a huge Bowmouth Guitar Shark! Unfortunately he didnt seem in the mood to hang around however still awesome to see! :)

Manta's are back!!!
Well today was a bit of a chilly diving day but on the plus side the Manta's are BACK!!! First dive of the morning was out to Galleria and what a great dive that was! Dropping down into that beautiful blue water we found a Blotched Fantail Ray and a Greater Hammerhead Shark! A little further down the way we encountered 2 Giant Manta's and to finish of the dive another massive Greater Hammerhead Shark! Fantastic start! The other two dives went out to the South this morning, first dive Kingfisher. Unfortunately the visibility was not the same out there, slightly greener. However we still managed to find a Giant Frog Fish, a couple of Crocodile fish, a Golden Moray Eel and the usual Sea Apple. Still a nice chilled dive. During the surface interval we had a Sail Fish swimming around our boat as well a small Green Turtle on the surface. Next dive was off to Manta Reef. Today the reef was full of life! A good couple of size Potato Grouplers, 5 leaf fish, 2 big Green Turtles and at the end 2 Reef Manta's chilling on the Cleaning Station! Good to have the Manta Rays back again! :)

Humpback Whale and Black Marlin seen on scuba!
As most of you will know we had quite an amazing day yesterday, today however was almost as good! This morning we decided to head out to the North again only this time to Reggies. Visibility is still holding out at a good 15 to 20 meters, although the water temperature was 19 degrees! Started the dive off with a couple of the smaller guys, this being 2 Longnose Hawkfish and 2 white Leaf Fish. Then a visit from 2 Whitetip Reef Sharks as well as finding a big Loggerhead Turtle resting under a ledge. As we were nearing the end of the dive we had a huge Humpback Whale swim up close past us! He or She came over the last Cleaning Station nice and close up, such an amazing experience! Due to the slightly choppy conditions we headed over to Galleria for our second dive. The visibility on this site was better as well as having a slightly bluer colour. Current however was a little stronger. The life down there today was something special, had schooling fish all over the place as well as a few Potato Groupers and loads of Lobsters! Unfortunately no big visitors on the reef, however that was not the case at the Safety Stop. Started off with first watching a single Devil Ray cruise around and then out of the blue a Black Marlin pulled through to get a closer look at us! Another amazing way to finish a diving day! ;)

Humpback Whale on Scuba!
Some more exciting news to share. Not only did we have those to amazing dives but also there was an Open Water Course that started today. Her first ever dive was down to Clown Fish Reef where she was visited by a Humpback Whale! For those of you who don't know Clown Fish Reef, its a shallow beginners reef. Therefore when they saw the Whale they were only in 10 meters of water. Apparently the sand was being kicked up as the Whale cruised by due to the shallow depth. How lucky can you be!? :)
Ragged Tooth Shark on Scuba!
Today was definitely in the top 5 diving days of the year so far! Started the morning off with a dive to Oasis. Good news is that the water is now a lovely blue again! We had 3 Reef Manta encounters, 2 huge Greater Hammerhead Sharks, 1 Grey Reef Shark, 1 Whitetip Reef Shark and also the beautiful Weedy Scorpionfish! The only downside on the dive was the water temperature, which was a chilly 20 degrees! Once again we had the Humpback Whales putting on a show for us, reverse breaching about 15 meters from the boat. Right so onto our next dive, we headed out to Galleria. Visibility on this dive was slightly less however this did not stop us seeing some amazing creatures down there. We saw a total of 3 Smalleye Stingrays, 1 absolutely huge Ragged Tooth Shark, 2 Sea Moths, a juvenile Ribbon Eel and schooling Bigeye jacks accompanied by some big Barracuda! Could not have asked for a better day! :)

Smalleye Stingrays are EVERYWHERE!
Another weekly update on the diving done here with us at Diversity Scuba. The main thing that we keep sighting out here at the moment are the very special Smalleye Stingrays! We had a dive to Galleria on Thursday where we encountered 4 at the same time! Was amazing to watch them all being cleaned, just didn't know which one to focus on. Otherwise its been basically every second deep dive that we find the Smalleye on, very special indeed! It hasn't however just been about them, there also seem to be a lot of Green Turtles around. Had sightings of them on Manta Reef, Reggies and one of our shallow dive sights Salon. As for the little guys we have found the Sea Moths again at Galleria, not the same ones as before as these ones are a little bit smaller. Whales Sharks have been hiding aways from us once again however we found a 7m one yesterday on the way back from Oasis, he was a little bit shy but everyone managed to have a little swim with him. Unfortunately at the moment the visibility has not been at its greatest, weather wise at least it has gotten a little bit more sunny. The current we've had some decent days but also the odd day with quite a strong one pulling through. The Humpback Whales are still thick out in the bay! Loads of splashing, tail slapping and breaching can still be seen. One was also sighted on a dive last week at Oasis during the safety stop! As the visibility is a bit low the calf came nice and close for a visit, absolutely mind blowing! Lets keep up the good diving :)

Smalleye Stingray sighted at Galleria!
Great dive this morning at Galleria! Unfortunately the visibility was not at its greatest but none the less it was still amazing under the water. Dropped down onto 2 big Octopus, they were puffing up and colour flaring which looks pretty awesome. Then quite a sizable Smalleye Stingray pulled in, just chilled with us for a few minutes while we watched it getting cleaned. To finish of the dive we found a big Whitetip Reef Shark resting on the bottom which seemed relaxed with us being there. Once again the Humpback Whales were singing away during the dive, doesnt get better than that! :)

Whale Sharks are still here as well as the Manta's!
Just a little update for everyone over the last few days. Seems that the Whale Sharks are hanging around, been seeing at least 2 to 4 a day on the Ocean Safari's! Also another Leatherback Turtle was spotted on a Ocean Safari two days ago! On the diving side, the dives have been great as well. The Manta's have been seen at both Manta Reef and Galleria almost every dive! Yesterday we were lucky once again to see a Humpback Whale on Scuba, this was during a dive to Oasis. Not only was it seen but the Dive Guide experienced a little ride as the Whale picked up the Buoy Line on its way past. A few Whitetip Reef Sharks have also been seen in the North at Reggies and Oasis, as well as a big Grey Reef Shark at Manta Reef. Humpback Whales are still seen all over the place, some Breaching, Tail Slapping, Spy Hopping and just cruising around. They always make the day that much more special! :)

Whale Sharks are back!!!
WHALE SHARKS are back!!! Yesterdays conditions were amazing, sea was flat and the sun was shining. We also had a total of 9 Whale Sharks out on the Ocean Safari's, one being close to 11 meters! Other than the Whale Sharks we also had breaching Humpback Whales, one Leatherback Turtle and a Hammerhead Shark. Was such an amazing day out at sea and we hope to have many more :)
Monday, 5 August 2013
Went out this morning for a double dive to Kingfisher and Manta Reef. Starting off with Kingfisher, as there was pretty much no current and the visibility was alright we had a nice chilled dive. We got a big Green Turtle sleeping as well as finding two different Giant Frog Fish! Also had a decent sized Crocodile Fish, a Sea Apple and the Humpback Whales singing away. Yet again we seemed to have missed them. During our surface interval we had an amazing time with 3 Humpbacks taking turns breaching, was really something to see! Then onto Manta Reef, conditions were the same as Kingfisher. This time however we had a Loggerhead Turtle as well as a absolutely massive Green Turtle! Just the one leaf fish, 2 free swimming Torpedo Rays, a Dragon Moray Eel, schooling Barracuda and 3 Potato Groupers. Water temperature is holding at a steady 22 degrees, not to bad. Lets hope the diving stays the way it is :)
Sunday, 4 August 2013
Amazing dive this morning out at Oasis! Had the Humpback Whales playing around the boat while we were kitting up but no luck on seeing them under water. We could hear them singing and they even came over our Buoy Line but unfortunately the visibility did not allow us to see that far. Spent a few moments with 4 Whitetip Reef Sharks which was super cool! We also found one of the Weedy Scorpionfish as well as a white Leaf Fish. There were also shoals of fish everywhere! Only a very slight current but otherwise just a beautiful dive in general. On the trip home we encountered a couple more Humpback Whales as well as a few Bottlenose Dolphins. What a great way to start the day :)
Friday, 2 August 2013
Went out to Galleria this morning. Visibility is getting better everyday and even the water temperature is picking up. Current was reverse but at least it was a comfortable speed, perfect drift dive! Managed to spend a few moments with a beautiful Smalleye Stingray and also the usual juvenile black Ribbon Eel. Another special moment about this dive was being able to hear the Humpback Whales singing, could feel the vibrations! Unfortunately we never managed to see them, next time though! :)
Friday, 19 July 2013
Just a little update on some of our dives that have stood out over the last couple of days. Starting off with a dive to Galleria on Sunday. Not only did we get to watch a Giant Manta being cleaned on one of the cleaning stations but also 21 Devil Rays joined in. Along the the sandy bottom we also picked up a Sea Moth as well as a juvenile Ribbon Eel. Then onto Monday morning. Two dives went out to the South, Kingfisher was the first dive. On this one we were very privileged to have 3 separate Green Turtle encounters! Next dive, Manta Reef. This dive was full of marine life and we saw 2 Giant Manta's with one staying with us for about 20mins! The dive that stood out on Tuesday was at Galleria. We had a magical moment with a massive Leatherback Turtle cruising down alongside our divers, such a rare event! Once again we had that special Humpback Whale experience on a dive out to Oasis yesterday. Not only were there 2 Humpback Whales on the dive but we also discovered 2 Weedy Scorpionfish hanging out together! Also another Green Turtle, Whitetip Reef Shark and a Blotched Fantail Ray, what a dive! We also managed to take a few pictures which will be added but unfortunately no whale pictures. Visibility has been averaging around 15 to 20 metres over the last couple of days and the water temperature about 22 to 23 degrees. Lets keep up the good conditions and enjoy the awesome diving here with Diversity Scuba!
Friday, 12 July 2013
What another AWESOME diving day with us here at Diversity Scuba! Started this morning with a dive to Reggies and there were fish everywhere! Also along the way we encountered both a Green and Loggerhead Turtle, a very curious Whitetip Reef Shark as well as a decent sized Grey Reef Shark. Between the morning and afternoon dive we also went out on a Ocean Safari, with some more luck on our side we managed to snorkel with 2 Whale Sharks for most of the trip! Last dive of the day was out to Galleria. This was the better dive of the day in the sense that we had 2 HUMPBACK WHALES cruise past us! Unfortunately they didnt hang around but still amazing to see. Visibility has also increased and the wind should be dropping down over the next couple of days. Lets keep up the good diving! :)
